Huawei Malaysia awarded for 5G cybersecurity development contribution
The award is presented to honor Huawei’s endless contribution towards the country’s digital transformation and 5G cybersecurity development.
Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) received the Special Award in recognition of the company’s endless contribution to 5G Cybersecurity Development in Malaysia at the 13th Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2022 organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia.
Since the past 21 years,Huawei has been exploring new opportunities for information and communications technology by collaborating with numerous telecommunications operators. The award is a testament to Huawei’s contribution towards the country’s digital transformation and 5G cybersecurity development.
In March 2021, My5G, Southeast Asia’s first-of-its-kind 5G Cyber Security Test Lab, was set up at CyberSecurity Malaysia via a collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia, Celcom Axiata Bhd and Huawei. My5G aims to obtain accreditation to perform Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) assessments and become a specialist security evaluation and test laboratory for the 5G ecosystem.
The award was presented by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Dato’ Sri Mohammad Mentek to Huawei Malaysia Director of the Board, Mr Gaoqiang.
CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab congratulated Huawei on the award, saying: “Cyber security is everyone’s responsibility. A cyber security strategy cannot be effective without everyone playing their individual parts. This must involve a change of mindset that involves a culture of cyber security, built upon good security education, tools and measures. We appreciate renowned global giants like Huawei working with agencies like CyberSecurity Malaysia and industry partners to address cyber security and privacy challenges and this award is a testament to that.”
Huawei Malaysia Director of the Board, Mr Gaoqiang said that Huawei aims to be a key contributor to Asia Pacific’s digital transformation where the company has maintained robust performance alongside the development of the digital economy across industries.
He added, “With rapid digitalisation and new technologies, the digital world has become more complex than ever. Hence, all parties must work together to build a reliable digital environment with adequate cyber security and privacy protection strategies in place that are able to handle the challenges of today and tomorrow. Huawei also pledges to serve Malaysia to the best of its ability and to work hard to spearhead efforts to help position the nation as the ASEAN Digital Capital.”
The 13th Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2022 was held from October 17 to 21 with the aim to offer collaborative opportunities through conference & sector-specific roundtable sessions in innovative cyber security and technology. The CSM-ACE 2022 also honoured and brought together Malaysia’s best cyber security organisations and professionals that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and leadership in cyber security.
